Celebrated Author I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 6, 1951. At the age of six, my family moved to Menomonee Falls. There I enjoyed the quintessential suburban childhood of a baby boomer. There I gained my very American sensibilities. I attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison from 1968 to 1972. I studied creative writing, theater, and philosophy. No less passionately, I indulged myself in the rich culture university environments so generously offered during those very memorable years. |
| The course of my life since has been animated by a pragmatic
idealism, born out of my childhood, fused to my university experiences. I do not believe the highest purpose of art is to entertain, but am fully aware that art which does not entertain is silly and self indulgent. Neither do I see art as an end unto itself. Rather, I consider it to be a dialog through which to explore and evolve our human selves. I must confess I am addicted to this exploration, the sheer ecstatic joy simple discovery rewards. I am fully dedicated to our human evolution. My explorations have been into science, history, human nature, psychology, archaeology, anthropology, religion, culture, and politics, to name a few. I am not ashamed to admit my writing has a conscious thematic core, derived from my explorations, of myself and this incredible world we inhabit. My thematic core is unashamedly infused with as much human passion as objective realism. It is directed to our intelligent and noble human evolution. In myself, my explorations and the conclusions they have led me to, I have sought the conciliation of my instinctive idealism with my dedicated scientific objectivity. In myself, the Age of Reason has confronted the passionate idealism of blind faith belief. My body of work takes the dramatic admonition, “let us embrace Good and do no more Evil,” objectively and literally, yet retains the traditional passion. It is not with wild-eyed fanaticism, but pragmatic objectivity I propose, let us make of our beloved earth Paradise, our human civilization Heaven. Let us no longer be deceived by our prescience irrationalities, even if well intended, how these noble and worthy goals shall be accomplished. Our astounding material technological advancement proves our unquestionable capabilities. What has seemed unrealistic and impossible, except a divine entity would intervene and cause it to be, is fully within our human capability to accomplish. By our inventive intelligence, the integrity of our human actions, there is no limit to what we human beings can accomplish, even that we can make of our earth Paradise, our human civilization Heaven. It is this thematic core I bring to my body of work. I invite the reader to join me in this bold exploration, this unafraid dialog, to quest for this evolution. |
