J. Kellogg Burnham World Renowned Poet
The most recent verses are at the front of the
book, some relating to things still going on as the book is printed.
Other
verses are presented in generally inverse chronological order, so the
reader is led down the trail of successively more remote attacks on the
body politic, when one hope and the next were not yet extinguished,
continuing toward a golden past where the nation possessed a federal
surplus, was at peace, and was looking hopefully into the new century
where the candidate with the most real votes would of course become
President. |
