Geologist & Author Jackson M. Langton was born 11/21/39 in Corpus Christi, Texas while his parents were traveling from Laredo to Houston. In 1945 his parents finally settled in Dallas, Texas where he graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1957. He had been mostly trained to hunt and fish by a Louisiana Cajun friend since he was eleven years old. He first attended Colorado School of Mines and later achieved a B. Sc. in Geological Engineering and a M. Sc. in Geology at Oklahoma University by 1963. From ‘63 to ‘66, he was conducting research toward a Ph.D. in Geology at Missouri School of Mines and finally at Stanford University while consulting for Pick Enterprises. |
| Between ‘66 and ‘76 he was a Geologist and
then Chief Geologist for the Morenci Branch of Phelps Dodge Corp. at their giant open pit copper mine in Arizona. In ‘76 he
moved to Tucson, Arizona to manage the domestic and international hard rock mineral exploration and mining interests of The
Superior Oil Co. until September, 1981. He was promoted to Vice President and subsequently President of Superior Mining Co.
and moved to Houston until October 1982. He returned to Tucson and continued his status until January 31, 1984, when Superior
and Mobil Oil were negotiating a Mobil purchase of Superior.
By 1991, he had moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he currently resides. He has published a few technical earth science-related articles in years past and this book is his first free-lance publication. He is divorced and has one daughter, Brooke Langton, who lives in Hollywood, California. |
